Sarasota sits on Sarasota Bay, and the combination of bay humidity and Gulf proximity means moisture management is a bigger factor here than in inland Florida. An AC system that's correctly sized but poorly maintained will struggle with latent load — meaning it cools the air to setpoint but leaves humidity uncomfortably high. This is particularly pronounced in the shoulder seasons (October–November, March–April) when outdoor temperatures are mild enough that the system doesn't run long enough to dehumidify properly.
